Time After Time

If you're lost, you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting

I just want to ride on my motorcycle

I love being challenged with new cake design...one I have not attempted before, like this one.
When I was asked if I can do a 3D Harley Davidson cake, I know I want to do it. After "google..ing" , deep in my heart I know I can do this despite the fact that it was my first time. Internet and U-Tube are my teachers.
Baking, cake stacking, trimming into shape, covering with fondant and attaching all the details took me 10 hours or maybe more....I didn't really count. I was enjoying myself.
Despite the long hours I felt tremendous pleasure when this cake is completed. My son even made a poster of it.

I Know What You Did Last Summer…..

20 May 2009

BUT do you know what I did on my birthday ???
This is what I did:
I baked 6 layers of rainbow colour cakes, each 10’’ x 15’’ and about 1 cm thick ( maybe less )…took me an hour or so to complete. Then I painstakingly stacked them up… well, at this point I kind of realized that no wonder I only see Rainbow Cakes in small, normal sizes. Hah…too late…had to make it work. Imagine trying to assemble a huge flat thin cakes without crumbling them to pieces !!!

AND …. the cake….covered and decorated with fondant. The center image is edible image printed by Naim from FrostFirst ( http://frostfirst.blogspot.com/ ).
This cake was made specially for my husband’s high school Alumni’s Bowling Tournament.

Spidey the Spider

6 January 2011

"Look!!!! The Spiderman is tired...he is sleeping on the cake. Hmm...I guess everybody needs a break. But Spidey, don't finish the cake okay! Its for Zafeer's third birthday."

"Psst...Zafeer, you can eat the Spiderman...well, technically. I made it from gum-paste...but he is a bit 'chunky'. Ate lots of cakes, perhaps."

Women & Handbags

24 December 2010

My first blog entry in 2011...yeah!
Women & handbags.... interesting! Handbags, handbags...tote bags, shoulder bags, sling bags, satchel bags, duffels, purse, clutch...just to name a few styles.
Then there are designer bags, that cost a fortune...and then there are the not so expensive bags for all 'commoners' like me. So, what choice do we have ( if we desire a designer bag ) but to make one...and an edible one too. Hah! Love this cake!

Another one of Mazura request...rugby and soccer cake, All Black and Germany Soccer team cake to be precise.
"Kak, I like unique cakes that you cannot buy in bakeries, that's why I always come to you". Thank You Zura for having faith in me.
This one is for the 'men' in the family...Dad, the All Black fan and Son, the Germany soccer team supporter.  Chocolate Cake and Blueberry Cake...can you guess which is which?
Oh yes...I tried painting technique on the balls...not bad huh, for first time attempt?!

Bear Loves Honey, I Love You

4 December 2010

One quiet night:
" Hello kak, I want 3D bear cake 5'' high, 8''x 6'' base"....a call from a lady cracked through my phone. " And I want it to be bride and groom bears, wearing tuxedo and white gown with veil", she added.
" Haa...errr, can I call you back in 10 minutes ". Oh my gosh...I never make 3D bear cake before...let alone ones wearing tuxedo & gown.

Breathe in , breathe out....."It's a challenge....you can do it", Me, talking to myself.

10 minutes later....
" Ok...I do it for you...royal icing and fondant decoration" , I told her but my palms were sweating ( Anxious? Nervous? Maybe...)

So....after mixing, coloring, rolling, cutting, squeezing and...a lot more actions, this is my completed mission...AND Yeah, I did it! I am so proud of the Bears. What do you think ?

Thanks Ika fr http://cupcake-car.blogspot.com/ for the bear pan. Appreciate it!

Hey Little Girls !

11 December 2008

My first attempt at "Doll Cake" a.k.a. "Barbie Cake"....is for Shikeen's little girl. I baked in layers because I was afraid I will get some uncooked part inside. Wouldn't be nice, right? However, the cake turned out lovely...Shikeen sent me the photo of the cut cake.
